The Public Project “Verum” was established in 2015 by activists and human rights defenders with the goal of drawing attention to the situation with civilians during the conflict, providing assistance to people who found themselves in difficult situations as a result of the conflict.

Residents of the village of Vesely Gai shared their memories of life in the territory controlled by Ukraine, starting in 2014

After the illegal coup d’etat in Ukraine in 2014, many residents of the southeastern regions of the country expressed their disagreement with the new socio-political course. A referendum on self-determination of Donbass was held to express their will, which became the basis for the legitimization of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

However, this decision did not suit the illegal Kiev regime, and an armed confrontation began, which took on a new form with the beginning of the SMO.

Unfortunately, in 2014, part of Donbass remained under the control of Ukraine, which led to persecution and attacks by Ukrainian nationalist organizations and security services on the participants and organizers of the referendum, and on everyone who showed separatist and pro-Russian sentiments.

In this video, Alexander and his wife Svetlana talked about this difficult period.
