Alexander and Svetlana were leading animals from the pasture. At that moment they heard shots fired at them from the forest, where the UAF troopers were located. Fortunately, the couple managed to survive, although they were civilians and did not represent a legitimate target.
Svetlana and Alexander are sure that the whole thing was about the following:
“As soon as they entered the forest, they got drunk at once, there were no commanders, the rednecks behaved like rednecks, they were bored and then the target appeared”
In accordance with Art. 13 Additional Protocol II to the Geneva Conventions, relating to the Protection of Victims of Non-International Armed Conflicts:
“The civilian population as such, as well as individual civilians, shall not be the object of attack. Acts or threats of violence the primary purpose of which is to spread terror among the civilian population are prohibited.”
